I knew there was a tendency in me to be a casual gamer. The kind that plays Bedazzle in the office when no one is looking. I've been fighting it a long time, but I lost.
Most of the games I have on my phone I don't really play. I can play Rolando for about 5 mins before I'm bored. Same with Edge and Katamari Damacy. Tap Tap Dance was good until I got to the high levels which just aren't that fun on the iPhone.
Enter "Lock 'n' Roll". It's a simple game with a 4x4 grid where you arrange colored dice to make hands: 4 of a kinds and straights (1,2,3,4). You get different points if the colors are the same or if there is one of each color, and the best 4 hands clear dice from the board. After each turn the placement is "locked" and the dice cannot be moved again. Lesser hands get points, but don't clear the dice from the board. After a certain number of points, you get wild cards (up to 2). The rules aren't thrilling, but game requires some concentration and strategy. Luck plays a pretty important role too, since you don't know what the next 4 dice will be.
The amazing thing is how completely addicted i've become. And based on the Worldwide score board, I've got a long ways to go.
